Short Term and Emergency Loans

Hi Everyone,

Katy Maloney, the Interim Director of Financial Aid at UC Davis, recently provided us with some important information about the Short Term Loans and Emergency Loans that students can apply for through the Financial Aid office.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Available only to regularly enrolled UC Davis students or new students who have enrolled in classes.
  • Available for educational purposes only.
  • Not available to students within 30 days of graduation date or within 30 days of the end of the academic year.
  • STL cannot pay debts to the University accrued from a prior year.

SHORT-TERM LOANS

  • $500+ based on eligibility: more than $500 may be borrowed by exception, based on eligibility and individual circumstances.
  • Repayment schedules may vary by exception, according to the source of repayment.

EMERGENCY LOANS

  • Maximum is $500.
  • Fees must be paid before applying for an emergency loan.
  • Due within 30 days.
  • During summer session, undergraduates must be registered for the session in which they are requesting the loan.
  • Not available during quarter breaks.

ASSISTANT LOANS

  • Maximum is salary for one month; maximum may be higher if need is for non-resident fees.
  • Teaching Assistants, Graduate Student Researchers, Associate Instructors, and Post- Graduate Researchers are eligible.
  • Repayment schedules may vary by exception, according to the source of repayment.
  • Maximum repayment period is six months, the end of the academic year, or graduation, whichever comes first.

Recruiting for 2010-2011 Student Assistants to the Chancellor

FYI: Deadlines to Drop Classes, Pass no Pass, File Graduation, FAFSA

Hey Everyone,

So the last day to drop classes is today February 1st, 2010. Today will be the 20th day.

The last day to file to a class as Pass or No Pass is February 8th, 2010.

Filing for Spring Graduation 2010 starts today February 1st and ends April 1st 2010. Applications can be found at: http://registrar.ucdavis.edu

Also remember to fill out the FAFSA application for eligibility of financial aid if you haven’t already done so for the upcoming academic year.
